Pocket Equality for Women!!!

Checking my hubby's  jeans pockets; I have to reach in past my wrist:

Checking my jeans pockets; not even to my knuckles:

Granted, those are the worst of the lot for teeny pockets, but none of my jeans are much better. Crazy.

  1. Yup, this is why I sew my own, and make the pockets even bigger on some of mine than the original pocket pieces.

    1. I actually have never tried adding pocket extensions;I suppose if I thought it through I might could figure a way to add on to an existing pocket bag. Those particular jeans don't even have true pockets; they have a folded bit that is sewn from the side seam into the fly. Those would be difficult to add on.

    2. I did a little hunting around...here's a tutorial, although she forgot to allow a seam allowance at the bottom and the pocket was still a bit short, the technique is what I expected. It's the side seam/ topstiching unpicking that I hate, lol. https://youtube.com/watch?v=KskGLrYD5U0&feature=shares

  3. In 2018 a study found On average, the pockets in women’s jeans are 48% shorter and 6.5% narrower than men’s pockets.

  5. I long for the day when RTW puts long pockets in women's jeans again.

    1. TBH...not holding my breath. It would increase manufacturing costs and they have the public trained to be happy with skimpy pockets (or no pockets at all...I mean, there are FAKE pockets on pants. Crazy.)
