Support for a Sewing Buddy...

I imagine most folks who stop by here readily recognize one of my prime fabric sources, Gorgeous Fabrics. I've had the pleasure of talking to Ann, GF owner and fabric stash enabler extraordinaire, over the internet and over the phone; she's a gem.

But, if you've been reading Ann's blog, you know that she's hit a rough patch of life right now dealing with medical tests and results and other such things.

She's facing twelve weeks of some sort of treatment(this is on her blog; I'm not spilling any confidences...) as a result of the results.

Anyway. I read her latest post and wondered what I could do to support her.

And I had an idea.

I don't know if I'll be able to keep up or not, given the fact that I do have school costumes looming, but I checked the records on my stash and I have enough fabric to sew one garment from fabric I've purchased from Ann each week for the next twelve weeks.

(Well, I could probably go way longer than that, but I'll focus on the next twelve weeks.)

And, while I'm matching fabric and pattern, cutting things out, stitching things up, I'll be holding Ann in my heart to the Father.

For the next twelve weeks.

Anyone else have a goodly stash of Gorgeous Fabric waiting to move into the wardrobe who'd like to join me?

  1. I certainly will join you! Bonus points 'cause I think most of the fabrics that I have from her have been in stash since '08.

  2. I don't have that much GF (not that I wouldn't want to, but restraint, you know), but I do have a special project going on right now with some fabric from her. I haven't blogged about it just yet, but you know, I think I'll dedicate it to her! Thank you for such a great idea and I can be praying for her while I work on it in the next few weeks.

  6. That's a wonderful idea. I have so many Gorgeous Fabrics and in fact, one has been on the floor for a week ready to cut while I decide which pattern to use. Even the interlining for that one is Gorgeous Fabrics. And another, I'm wearing a top right now made with one of her fabrics a few weeks ago.

  7. What a great idea! I'm not sure if I'll be able to do one a week. I do have a bit of Ann's fabrics and will get to work on them!

  8. I don't think I have enough fabric to last me 12 weeks but definitely have enough to get started until I can get more! Count me in on the 12 weeks of sewing support. I will hold her up to Our Heavenly Father as I work.

  9. Great idea! I can immediately call to mind 8 fabrics in stash, but can always buy more (another way to show my support)!

  11. What a great idea, I have quite a few fabrics from Ann so I will try to sew up as much as I can (I am a very slow sewer!). In all my dealings with her over the internet she seems like such a lovely person, I hope she gets better very soon.

  12. Great idea, Lisa! You're so sweet and thoughtful, a real blessing to the sewing world yourself. Count me in. I don't know if I have 12 pieces, but I might! And there's no reason I can't buy a bit more, right?

    Bless you.

  13. I have some yardage -- and several things on my wish list. I'd love to "dedicate" these sewing adventures to Ann as she goes through chemo, etc. Just so she knows how much we all love her!

  17. I just finished up a dress in a sweater knit from GF. I'll put up a blog post. And, I have my favorite dress on today out of fabric from GF. I could wear clothes for two weeks just made out of her fabrics! I'll look through my stash to try and participate.
