Fabulous Jackets

Time for a little click clicking, although I imagine most of you have already seen these...

I've just been blown away by the fabulous jackets that have been finished up and posted by a number of ladies who each qualify as a Sewing Enthusiast Extraordinaire. I'm feeling the urge to do something lovely and spectacular (keep in mind, that is a relative term) and I *really* just need to keep plugging away at the stash slashing.

Boy, have I learned a lesson about the impact of a single day of stashly indulgence. I am determined to sew up the fabric equivalent, but when I see wonderful creations like these it makes me want to chuck the whole Queue and do something tailored and gorgeous...or at least try.

Anyway, without further ado, if you haven't seen these jackets yet (they've all been finished within the past week!) go look:

Carolyn's Modified Simplicity Jacket
Erica B's Chanel-style Jacket
Lauralo's Chanel-style Jacket
Tany's Purple Jacket
Busy Mom's Brown Tweed Jacket

Kay doesn't blog (that I'm aware of, anyway), but she posted her photos in a Flickr album:
Kay's Ms Stylebook Jacket

This one's not quite as recent, but it's Fabulous all the same. Dawn was just ahead of the curve:
Dawn's Glen Plaid Jacket

So, yes, I will go back and work on the Queue; I will make a set of flannel sheets; and I will dream about the jacket I'll make when I've got that list done...

  1. Lisa - thanks so much for putting me in the company of these amazing women! I too am just blown away by the quality and types of jackets being sewn...the two Chanel jackets are soooo different but start from the same pattern, Tany's BWOF jacket and Kay's Ms. Stylebook jacket...what an amazing bounty of jacket riches!

I think you need to make one of your own...maybe using your NE1945 jacket pattern. I am sure you have a wonderful piece of fabric in "your collection" that would fit the bill and help with fabric parity!

    Thanks again for the mention!

  2. Actually, Carolyn, that FSG jacket is high up on my list. Very high up on the list... ;)

But I have promised myself that I'll reach parity by 12-31, and I've still got about 25 yards left to sew up, so the take-it-slow-and-special jacket will likely have to wait until January.

    But I'm thinkin', I'm thinkin'! ;)

  3. Ohhh, I'm so honoured that you've mentioned me and my jacket together with the other fabulous garments! I loved both Chanel jackets and, of course, Carolyn's fabulous Simplicity jacket, but I didn't know of Busy Mom's brown jacket and Kay's Mrs Stylebook Jacket! Thank you for mentioning me and for introducing me to Busy Mom's and Kay's!

  5. Lisa, thanks so much for taking note of my jacket, I had no idea anyone was even looking. Actually, I feel very humbled to be even mentioned in the same breath as these ladies. They are all sewers that I admire. I'm looking forward to seeing your new jacket. Busy Mom aka Lisa

  6. Lisa, since you are thinking of another NE1945 in your future, you might be interested in seeing my latest version. It is morph between HP Missmoneypenny Prim and Proper and 1945. I posted it on NE Thread only http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=17148225&uid=4223616&members=1.

  7. Wow, that is a great jacket, Joan! I don't know how I missed it.

You've really got the fit perfected on that 1945!
